We decided to mix up our branding this year and make crockpot pulled pork sandwiches for the branding crew. Little did I know, it was a HUGE success. Everyone raved about how delicious the pork was. Because we have a quite a few children attend our branding, I made two crockpots, one spicy and the other not spicy, and it was great to have a mix of both. The heavy seasoning is 100% what made this recipe stand out. Oh, and the Blue Moon wheat beer makes the pork incredibly tender! It literally fell off the bone! Who doesn’t love a GOOD pulled pork sandwich?
A Few Tips & Tricks:
If you like spicy, the key to our spicy crockpot pulled pork sandwiches is in the seasoning. Head to Flat Iron Pepper and buy their dark and smoky BBQ Rub here. I use Flat Iron Peppers in nearly EVERYTHING I make. These peppers are packed with flavor and add the perfect amount of spice to any meal you make. I have purchased nearly every flavor, and these pepper flakes are a STAPLE in my spice cabinet!
If you have to shred meat in bulk, try out this XL BBQ Prep Tub (pictured below). It has a cutting board and is collapsable for storage purposes. It is a life changer! I also found it on Amazon, but it was more expensive. You may want to check out both and see which is cheaper!
This crockpot pulled pork sandwich recipe is the perfect way to feed a crowd and is guaranteed to be raved over. The pork is deliciously seasoned and oh so tender!
In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and the Flat Iron Pepper Co dark and smoky BBQ rub.
Trim any excess fat off the pork butt.
Take half the mixed seasonings and rub on all sides of the pork butt until it is well coated, then place in the crockpot.
Pour the bottle of Blue Moon wheat beer into the crockpot.
Add the orange zest, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and chopped onion to the crock.
Cook on high for 7-8 Hours.
Once cooked, take out the pork and shred it, removing the bone.
You can leave the additional juice in the crockpot or pour some out. I usually pour about half the juice out and then leave the remainder to add flavor.
Add the shredded pork back into the crockpot and mix in the remaining seasoning until well combined. Serve on a bun.
Enjoy!
